I have seen many people asking a very common question in forums and restricted news groups, “Is there any support available for Outlook 2007 clients to access Exchange 2010 online archive?” Answer to this was no but now Yes. It is available now.

Exchange team announced the support yesterday and the December 2010 cumulative update for Office 2007 family will add this feature in Outlook 2007 now.

The update can be downloaded from: Office 2007 Cumulative Update for December 2010

I am sure everyone knows the limitation but thought of reminding one more time. You need Exchange 2010 Enterprise CALs to avail the online archive mailbox feature. So it is very clear that if you are running exchange 2010 standard CALs.

Microsoft Office Lync 2010 now available

I am not sure if you have been waiting for Microsoft Communications Server 14 launch so eagerly but I have been for sure. Finally, Microsoft Communications Server 14 RC is made available publically yesterday. This is a downloadable ISO and contains Microsoft Communications Server 14 Client too. One of the very interesting stuff is they have renamed this product from Microsoft Office Communications Server to Microsoft Lync now. Well, the new name seems really short and pretty. Honestly, Microsoft Office Communications Server was quite a lengthy name to pronounce 😉 The downloadable ISO is available at Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Release Candidate (RC) Review the system requirements on the same page. Lync is supported on Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 only. Download and Enjoy 😉

Exchange 2010 says Good Bye PFDAVAdmin!

PFDAVAdmin was one of my favorite tools for troubleshooting public folder related issues. A great tool that helped in almost every type of PF related issues.

MS Exchange Team announced the a new tool as a replacement of this and called it ExFolders. ExFolders is just a port of PFDAVAdmin, says Bill Long on Exchange Team blog. The tool is available for download from http://msexchangeteam.com/files/12/attachments/entry453398.aspx

Preserving the old interface of PFDAVAdmin they have added few more features into the new tool and some changes in the way the tool should be used. You can learn more about ExFolders Here
